Keep Track of Your Councilperson With New Service: Councilpedia

Citizens Union has come out with a very useful tool for tracking your Councilperson -- it's called Councilpedia. It's chock full of information about each Councilmember, including things like bills sponsored, campaign expenditures, member items, voting record, and contributions. This is the kind of information that used to be hidden in the basement of the board of elections, so it's great to have it all at your fingertips in one place. Now there is virtually no excuse for not knowing what your Councilperson is up to!

This is a great service. Now EVERYBODY can match up the contributors to the phony non-profits that get member item funding from a particular councilperson. So now we can all see how much the most expensive election lawyer in the Bronx is retained for. And Campaign Finance is willing to take suggestions of fraud. The CFB has about fifty eager lawyers wanting to do investigative audit work. The Bronx politico shenanigans has kept them very busy. I suggest every future contender do his or her homework and send your conflict of interest tips to the CFB on the new Councilpedia website. If you want to clean up the Bronx, then, here is our opportunity. We need to strip the incumbents clean of their fraudulent non-profits, so that contenders can start with as even a playing field as possible. Without the phony non-profits doing the petitioning work, paying for literature and retaining election lawyers to keep us off the ballot; is our defense and will bring the playing field to the twenty five yard line. Giving the CFB fodder to investigate, is our offense in getting us to the fifty yard line.
