Bronx Politicos Spar Over Senate Leader

Here is a story out of the Daily News about the back and forth in the State Senate over who will lead the Democrats. State Senator Jeff Klein recently resigned (or was forced out of his post) as the No. 2 Democrat after seriously questioning the leadership provided by John Sampson (pictured). Today, two Bronx Dems, Ruben Diaz Sr. and Jose Serrano, Jr. came out in support of Sampson. He only needs 16 of the 30 Dem. votes to keep his post so change at this point does not look likely, even though these are the same guys who allowed Pedro Espada to make a mockery of the whole system and keep him in his top leadership post until he was formally indicted just a month ago. Just another day in the NY State Legislature!

  1. With supporters like Rubén Díaz Sr. and José Serrano Jr., I know that State Senator John L. Sampson must be truly awful leader.

  2. The poverty pimps strike again. Hispanic legislators does not equal progressive thoughtful people. In fact, much like Obama was in Chicago, most of these Black and Hispanic politicians are equally as corrupt as their white counterparts. The only problem is that their corruption directly affects their constituents more than a corrupt white or Jewish politician because of the economic disadvantages much more evident in minority communities.

  4. I have to ask since a commentator made the distinction: Aren't Jewish politicians white too? Just asking.

  5. Not really. Jewish people call themselves Semitic, and Semitic people are not what one would call an Caucasian. Hope that explains it for you.

  7. I like this blog, but this string of comments is one of the dumbest.

The topic is the STATE SENATE ... not some curve into a looney tangent about Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, Methodists, Obama, eggnog, the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée, or anything else! But now I gotta go... I want to fill my birdfeeder before the snow starts.
