Dinowitz Ducks Taking Out Espada

Daily News reports that Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (referred to in the artice as a "Bronx Democratic honcho") will not be taking any action to remove Pedro Espada from the Democratic Party as requested by State party leaders last month. Dinowitz is quoted as saying "There is no pressing reason to do this now,". Really? Now that is a profile in courage!

  1. I've been telling all my NY friends to expect that Espada will still be in office (sadly) come 2011. The Bronx Dem leaders, including Dinowitz, will support their boy no matter how dirty he is. They let Espada terrorize them by switching party allegiance and now they need him in the fold for his 32nd vote. Doesn't matter that in a club of low lifes he is the worst. Hopefully, the Feds will get Espada, then we'll hear from Dinowitz how bad he was.

  2. This is not one of Jeffrey Dinowitz's finest moments. I would have hoped for at least a trace of bravery and courage. Instead, he proved himself to be silly wimp.

  3. Is Dinowitz the best that Riverdale can offer? I realize it's only an assembly seat, but come on!

And as for Espada, the matter speaks for itself. Why is it so hard to get rid of this guy?

  5. I think it is easy to pick on Dinowitz, for backing his boy. That is the game these parties play, The whole nation is caught in party politics, he is not about to be a policeman that the democratic party leader's job. Dinowitz is playing it safe until Espada loses his job to a Dominican- To be honest I am more concerned about issues that directly affect me,- Did anyone happen notice how disgusting the 238st subway station is, there is garbage piled up there for weeks, it is an embarrassment to the whole community, I have work in Manhattan and come home to the dirtiest station in the city. I want to know who is responsible for having that station cleaned, I want to know why my $2.25 gets me less service than people in Brooklyn and Manhattan. I realize that politicians will always be dirty but have a filthy train station welcome when I come home reinforces to

  7. Hey Pat Smith: The incident where Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz tried to intimidate a community board member into not posting on a blog shows why it can be good to be anonymous on this blog. It's really OK with me if community board members blog the truth about Dinowitz anonymously. Sincerely, ANONYMOUS

  9. It will be important for Dinowitz ( & everyone else despite alliances or lack there of in the district) to take a stand against Espada and devote resources and time to defeating him but this silly idea of throwing him out of the party doesn't hold water - it would fail in the courts and use up a lot of time and money that could be put into better use
