Bronx Political Chatter is a no holds-barred, irreverent look at politics in the Bronx. Bronxites have long lacked an independent forum to express our views about local politics and politicians. Bronx Political Chatter is a place for you to openly express your views, ideas, criticisms and suggestions, and to make our elected officials more accountable for the decisions they make. So this is your turn to be heard.

Challengers Emerge to Take On Espada
Great piece in the Gotham Gazette on the race to unseat Pedro Espada. Goes into a lot of good detail on the relative strength of the strongest challenger, Gustavo Rivera. Here is another interesting nugget from the piece -- the Ben Franklin Club endorsement shows a total vote of 48 people. Not bad but certainly not the powerhouse club that Assemblyman Dinowitz likes to tout? I also wonder how many of that 48 person turnout were paid staff members of the local politicos?

Warning to Jeffrey Dinowitz: Old old farts are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness. One more hot, humid day in the 90s and the Ben Franklin Club could lose half its membership
ReplyDeleteNot just half of his club's membership, but also half of his constiuents.
