Part 2 of Councilman Larry Seabrook's corruption trial is under way and it already has a lot of the craziness we saw in the first trial, which ended in a mistrial. Seabrook, who is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a not-for-profit, started off by insisting that prosecutors call him "Councilman Seabrook” or “Mr. Seabrook” but never just “Seabrook.” A Daily News editorial suggests maybe he should be called "Your Majesty" or just plain "guilty".
He's still a councilman??
ReplyDeleteJust peachy
ReplyDeleteWhere did it start going so wrong?
ReplyDeleteMark my words ... Councilman Seabrook will end up like these folks:
ReplyDeleteEx-State Comptroller Alan G. Hevesi
Ex-State Senator Carl Kruger
Ex-State Senator Pedro Espada, Jr.
Ex-State Senator Hiram Monserrate
Ex-State Senator Efraín González, Jr.
Ex-State Senator Guy J. Velella
Ex-Assemblyman Clarence Norman, Jr.
Ex-Assembyman Brian M. McLaughlin
Ex-Assemblywoman Diane M. Gordon
Ex-Assemblywoman Gloria Davis
Ex-City Councilman Miguel Martinez
Nice list. If you add photos of them it would be a real rogues' gallery!
DeleteOne gets the sense that the New York State Legislature is a bicameral hive of criminality.
Yes, ten to one he ends up in the slammer.
DeleteYou forgot to add disgraced Queens ex-Assemblyman JIMMY MENG to the list. Mr. Meng (who's daughter is an assemblywoman running for Congress) was arrested by the feds and charged with wire fraud.
DeleteThe newspapers say that Mr. Meng hadn’t even left the Brooklyn Federal Courthouse when he dialed up the snitch who burned him, likely violating the terms of his bail in the process.
the
Shameful display.
ReplyDeleteor a barrel of laughs
DeleteLarry Seabrook is finished, but he's just too dumb to know it!
ReplyDeleteYes, the man is a goner.
Deleteits over go away
DeleteI guess this joke of a councilman thinks it is all onwards and upwards from here ... Pity the fool.
ReplyDeleteHe's just glittery and angry.
ReplyDeleteHah! ... "maybe he should be called "Your Majesty" or just plain "guilty" --- that's gotta hurt!
ReplyDeleteGuilty!
ReplyDeleteJuly 26, 2012: Councilman Seabrook convicted on 9 of the 12 counts he faced, including wire and mail fraud and conspiracy.
That guy really took the public for a ride.
