Bronx BP Asks for Vote on Living Wage Bill

Here is a New York Daily News story reporting on a video put out by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. calling on the City Council to hold a vote on the Living Wage bill. The bill would require builders who receive any taxpayer subsidies to ensure that any future jobs at the site pay $10 an hour with benefits or $11.50 an hour without. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has not taken a position on the bill.

  2. The Living Wage is not going to happen in these tough economic times. Give the people who need the jobs the benefit of the doubt...they can unionize jobs in the armory once the jobs have been created.

  3. Jobs,Jobs,Jobs, is needed in the Bronx. He is full of hot air pretending to care. He has a great paying job, staff, and gets every special need from a parking permit, city vehicle, free lunches, dinners. We should really think hard on the next election who can help out this borough and not themselves.

  4. I guess the crew of staff who get paid to be with Mr Diaz is not in need of a living wage. Does he really need 4-5 people to be around him. Do they go into the bathroom and pass him toilet paper?

  5. I was in the court house canceling jury duty and overheard Mr Diaz talking in the elevator. He really sounds uneducated and foolish. I am glad i am moving very soon to Florida. The Bronx is in need of leadership.
