Diaz Considering Mayoral Bid

Here is Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. saying he is considering running for Mayor in 2013. He cites as his resume for the job these list of accomplishments: pushing for a living wage bill; his work on job creation; and his effort to build a hotel across from Yankee Stadium. It should be noted that none of these list of "accomplishments" are a reality--yet. The watered-down living wage bill is stuck in the City Council, we are no where close to getting a hotel at Yankee Stadium and the Bronx has the highest unemployment rate in the City. What do you think?

  1. I think that Diaz Jr is an embarrassing lightweight who will never be elected to any citywide office. He's not even qualified to be a mayoral aide!

  2. Diaz needs seasoning, is not as well spoken and while he has garnered favor in some circles for the Living Wage stand, he has no real resume. Making a stand is one thing, getting something done is another. He also has his father hanging around his neck and what wealthy donors is he tapping into?

  3. It is a self-evident fact that Ruben Diaz, Jr. is the best and most reliable elected official in the City of New York.

He has gained the full confidence of the voters because he has shown himself worthy of it, and no Borough President has more solid support from the people. In addition, his staff's ability and character are unsurpassed. The Diaz Administration is untiring in its efforts to further the interests of Bronxites.

In every respect, Ruben Diaz, Jr. is an outstanding chief executive of Bronx County. He has already set an example to be followed by governors and mayors throughout the United States.

  4. I would have thought that the comment from Anonymous @ Dec. 23 3:23 was from Diaz himself, except for the fact that he could possibly write so well. And as for Diaz's style of public speaking, don't get me started. He must have a mouth full of pebbles.

  5. It would be nice for a change to have a mayor from The Bronx. Unfortunately, Rubén Díaz, Jr. has ZERO credentials. Although I don't like any of them, I would sooner vote for Bill Thompson, Christine Quinn, Bill de Blasio or EVEN John Liu! But I do wish that Ray Kelly would run for the job.

  6. He's NOT running ... just the thought of it is CRAZY!

  7. The major problem with Diaz is that his stance leads eventually toward bureaucracy, collective ideology and centralized authority.

  8. I wish people would stop resorting to "anonymous' when writing their comments. The post glorifying him is obviously from a staff or family member because it is delusional. My bet is that Diaz, Jr.'s delusions of granduer will make him run for Mayor in 2013. He will lose badly in the primary, then take over his father's Senate seat in a special election in 2014, when Rev. Diaz runs for City Council in 2013. Diaz, Jr. will end his career as a State Senator.

  9. The major problem with Diaz Jr. is not socialism, the major problem is Diaz Jr. himself.

  10. I wish people would stop being Anonymous...but nonetheless. I think Diaz, Jr. will run because he has delusions of granduer. He really thinks he is that important, good and unbeatable. But he will lose big time during the primary. Then in 2014, he will run in a special election for his father's Senate seat, that will be vacated when Diaz, Sr. runs for City Council in 2013. (He has to run in the City Council because he is not getting any funding for his programs from the Senate after all his Amigo shenanigans)Wait...I believe he had to close down CCIA...i guess his stupity finally caught up with him....so goes the father...so goes the son..it is only a matter of time.

  12. Dec 23 was posted by one of his super salary aides. That is why he pays them big salaries to make him look good and sound good. Running for Mayor is a big joke. This guy can't even speak well. Sounds like he has a mouth full of candy. Even the loser councilman Rivera sounds a little better.

  13. Baby Diaz shows a dangerous political tone deafness.

  14. I think that Ruben Diaz, Jr. is a very flimsy lightweight politician who also happens to be completely inarticulate.

  15. I just read this item about conspiracy theories in yesterday's NY Post. It's perfect for Crazy Manny G:

    IN MY LIBRARY: PAUL SIMPSON
    By Barbara Hoffman
New York Post, Jan. 1, 2012

If the Mayans were right, this new year — the last on their calendar — is where the world ends. But Paul Simpson, a connoisseur of conspiracy theories, isn’t holding his breath. “Something predicted in a religious text or calendar is usually subject to so many interpretations,” says Simpson, author of “That’s What They Want You to Think: Conspiracies Real, Possible, and Paranoid,”out next month. Conspiracies have gotten easier to parse since the Internet, says Simpson, who just finished his “five-year mission” as the editor of Star Trek Magazine. “So many law-enforcement officials have put primary information on the ’Net — you can type the url in your laptop and see the FBI witness statements!” Here are four of his favorite conspiracy books.

    In God’s Name

    by David Yallop

This is the first conspiracy book I read. It’s about Pope John Paul I, who reigned only for 33 days and appeared to be in good health yet was found dead. Yallop’s very good at drawing a reader in. If the book was published now, someone would say, “This is Dan Brown territory.” Only this is better written.

    Crossfire

    by Jim Marrs

This is the JFK book, the basis of the Oliver Stone movie. It basically refuses to accept that Lee Harvey Oswald could even possibly be the lone gunman, that there has to be more to it. Marrs goes through the Warren Commission and cherry-picks the evidence . . . It’s a fascinating read on how to interpret anything to make your theory work.

    Roswell

Uncovering the Secrets of Area 51 and the Fatal UFO Crash

    by Rupert Matthews

Roswell’s inspired so many films, TV shows and books, but I hadn’t come across the full details of what happened there in July 1947. This book, based on primary sources, makes it clear something out of the ordinary happened there that day in that sleepy town.

    Alternative 3

    by Leslie Watkins

“Alternative 3” aired in 1977 in Britain and basically claimed the moon missions were all faked, that Earth was going to become uninhabitable and key people would be moved to Mars. It was supposed to air on April Fool’s Day! [Instead] it inspired this book, that claims it was real, and ramps everything up to 11.

  22. Ruben Diaz Jr. would be a total novice at running things. He has no executive experience. He also presents his thoughts in a jumbled way. Not a good choice.
