Jeff Klein!

Tony, I'm glad you're here to expose guys like Klein and his Senate Dem counterparts for what they are!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5554264138811233395.post-71764718832696026212010-12-06T16:08:15.026-08:002010-12-06T16:08:15.026-08:00So the Democrats took control of the New York Stat...So the Democrats took control of the New York State Senate for the first time in more than four decades in the 2008 election, promising that things were going to change for the better now that the GOP had lost control. Boy were they wrong.

The Democrats proved themselves to be an even more hideous bunch than the Republicans ... a feat that I never imagined possible. Their record is a masterstroke of failure. Shame on them!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5554264138811233395.post-41853596407415409072010-12-05T19:48:46.181-08:002010-12-05T19:48:46.181-08:00There is plenty of room for criticizing some the l...There is plenty of room for criticizing some the leadership of the NYS Senate Dems -- but the real reason they don't have a majority falls on two candidates who were likely to win on Long Island in races that would have meant pick-ups for the Dems. Calcaterra was knocked off the ballot because of overly restrictive residency requirements (her fault for not realizing it earlier on!) and David Mejias in turning into a starker overnight. I also blame Kaplowitz for running a really bad campaign in Rockland and running away from progressive support. Likewise Craig Johnson on Long Island (if he ends up losing) turned to the center-right in his campaign. The progressive folks who helped get him elected sat it out because he abandoned them as a legislator.

All that being said -- I hope progressive reformers (Liz Krueger, for example) gain some power these next two years in the Democratic conference. I think she will find some new allies in folks like Avella, Carclucci and the Bronx's own Gustavo Rivera.Jackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17544110001798264698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5554264138811233395.post-32074869899031429082010-12-05T10:04:09.413-08:002010-12-05T10:04:09.413-08:00i used to think that the state republicans were ba...i used to think that the state republicans were bad, but the recent state democratic record of control makes the the republicans look like saintsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
